July 19, 2014 – As Chief Co-Sponsor, Rep. Ford supports Chief House Sponsor Rep. Rita Mayfield as Governor Quinn signed into law the Job Opportunities for Qualified Applicants Act (or HB 5701), which requires private employers in the state with 15 or more employees to remove any inquiry into an applicant’s criminal history and postpone such questions until later in the hiring process.  With the signing, Illinois became the fifth state to expand “ban-the-box” policies to private employers.

April 5, 2014 – At Memorial Park in La Grange Park, Gov. Quinn and Rep. Ford announce that the LaGrange Park Community Park District was awarded $400,000 for improvements to Memorial Park and the Park District of Oak Park was awarded $400,000 for renovations to Maple Park through the Department of Natural Resources’ Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Program.

Ford presents certificates from the House of Representatives to the Illinois Army National Guard, 108th Sustainment Brigade, at its Deployment Ceremony at Living Word Christian Center, Forest Park, the day before the Brigade deploys to Kuwait.  Jonathan Tate, Rep. Ford’s Community and Veteran Outreach Coordinator, was deployed as part of the Brigade.
